A friendly Challenge.
September 1, 2009
The last time Debbie was up for a visit she brought some Fruit Lady fabric from a project she did for a customer. So, in the spirit of the fun fruit ladies we decided to make a challenge of using the fabric and making it into a quilt.
The rules, the size of the quilt is not to be bigger than 18×25. We then picked these fat quarters to use in the quilt. Don’t they look delicious?
Last week as part of my fabric therapy (when I had bronchitis) I sat at my machine and “worked” on it. It has been fun. The reveal is on Sept. 21st which is close to the last day of summer. I can’t wait to see Debbie’s and celebrate the end of summer!
Look what I found today.

We were digging in some stuff today, looking for Drew’s immunization records. Anyway we dug out an old trunk that had the top to our wedding cake, my cap and gown, a couple of my Grandmother’s aprons, a few pieces of Robert’s Grandmother’s china and a quilt top that I assume was my Grandmother’s on my Mom’s side of the family. Honestly I don’t even remember getting it or putting it in the trunk. But, it is a wonderful find. It is nothing special except it was my Granny’s. The last quilt tops that I had was before I had the HQ and I had to send them off to be quilted. I am looking forward to quilting this one myself. So, another quilt to add to the queue.
Dog tired dogs

So, I think you can tell we are empty nesters because we talk about and take pictures of our dogs. (sad but true) They are funny and crack us up. This is them after a walk and then a playing and barking fest in the house. Glad we have a comfy couch with pillows for them.
*sigh*

So, Tallulah barked and the alarm went off. Robert went downstairs and saw some teenagers running away from the building. Then we found the broken windows. It’s good to know that the glass break alarm works. No one was hurt and nothing was stolen.

So, we got to clean up some glass and stuff.

The good news is the they broke a couple of the small windows and NOT one of the big ones. So here’s the fix some plywood and caulking.
Hmmmm.
Happy Birthday Honey.

Today is Robert’s 49th birthday. It makes me smile to think how blessed I am to be his wife. Don’t forget to pick out some fabric so I can make your quilt.
Happy Birthday!

My accountant said we had to do a physical inventory this weekend. Robert counted the notions. Jennier, Marie and I counted fabric. It didn’t take too awfully long, but I was tired from not sleeping the night before. We managed to count 9,025.5 yards of fabric and over 600 hundred notions. However, I was cranky and sarcastic to Robert. I’m sad about that. What could have been a relatively fun evening was a drag because I was cranky. So, at Katie’s suggestion I put myself in the dog house and I think I will stay here today too.
The Double Pinwheel that started it all.

This is the first quilt that Debbie and I quilted on the HQ. We really had no idea what we were doing, but knew that we needed to quilt a quilt. This was Debbie’s and it was just going to be h on her bed. So, we quilted it. We were white knuckled while we were quilting, and we quilted the snot out of it. I think that we used 10 bobbins….anyway, Debbie brought it down so I could look at it, because I really like it and wanted to check out the pattern she used because I knew it was different than the one in the book that I have. Well, it is lovely and several people offered to take it off her hands…but, she managed to make it back to Woodstock with it. It inspired me to keep going making lots of double pinwheel blocks….16 down hundreds to go.
Grrrr.

So, this is what I noticed when I went to feed the dogs this morning. Evidence we have a mouse (hopefully not a rat) in the house. There are two things that push me over the edge as far as pests go. Mice is one of them. So, off to the store to get every kind of trap known to man. Hopefully we will be mouse free soon.
Webb Baby Quilt.

One of the fun things about being at the Well is we get to be friends with lots of young families. So, I get to make lots of baby quilts. I almost always make “Yellow Brick Road” I made this one using some of the new beach fabrics and some brights. It was fun to do and I can’t wait until baby boy Webb comes into the world and gets to use it.
The day after Sunday.

Okay, i had an allergy attack tonight while we were at olde town downtown dinner. And I’m not feeling all that great so I’ll post more pictures from today tomorrow. Here is a picture of Sabueso and Tallulah keeping me company while I was quilting and cleaning in the shop today.
