Debbie and I met half way between Woodstock and Augusta, in Madison. And showed each other our challenge quilts. They were very different and very fun.

A friendly Challenge.

September 1, 2009

fruit lady challenge The last time Debbie was up for a visit she brought some Fruit Lady fabric from a project she did for a customer. So, in the spirit of the fun fruit ladies we decided to make a challenge of using the fabric and making it into a quilt.
The rules, the size of the quilt is not to be bigger than 18×25. We then picked these fat quarters to use in the quilt. Don’t they look delicious?
Last week as part of my fabric therapy (when I had bronchitis) I sat at my machine and “worked” on it. It has been fun. The reveal is on Sept. 21st which is close to the last day of summer. I can’t wait to see Debbie’s and celebrate the end of summer!

Fetching Water.

Fetching Water Here’s what I have been working on this week. This is “Fetching Water” a Kitambaa Design by Pippa Moore. It is a beautiful quilt. I love her designs. We sell all of them in the shop. This is the second one of her designs I have made. I used some batiks and some vegetable dyed fabric from South America. It was fun to do, and sometimes it is nice to make a smaller quilt and get some almost instant gratification.

Pungkin Peers.
Here’s the new Halloween faric that we recently got in. Marie and Sami made a great little wall hanging using the split rail pattern and the panel as a focus fabric. Pumpkin Man is a class that we are having on September 26th. Just in time for a fun decoration for your festivities.

empty Christmas bolt. I got all of the Christmas Mystery Quilt Kits cut out today. I did finish off one bolt of fabric, making up all the kits. There is a sneak peak of some of the fabrics that are in the quilt in the box. I really like the way that the quilt turned out and am looking forward to Christmas in July to get them out.

Ruby Jude Childers.

Ruby Jude Childers Quilt Our friends the Childers had a beautiful baby girl on Tuesday. I had picked the black and white fabric for the quilt as they are a hip contemporary couple. I decided that depending on the gender of the baby, the “sparkle” border would be either hot pink or blue. Well, when I found out the baby was a girl, I decided it really needed a red border. Then I found out her name is Ruby, that made it even more perfect. Anyway, congrats Sarah and Wes, Ruby is perfect. I hope you get lots of snuggle time with Ruby and her quilt.

white Here is the Windham’s Gathered Over Time collection. There are 39 bolts of great red, white and blue civil war reproduction prints. I am excited to have some more Civil War prints in the shope. red and blue
